Collaboration Agreement. County Council of Justice of Valencia-IJJO

On the September 3rd Fernando de Rosa Torner, Justice and Public Administrations Counsellor for the Generalitat Valenciana (Spain) and Mr. Cédric Foussard, Director of the Juvenile Justice Observatory (IJJO) signed the Collaboration Agreement.

United Nations-ECOSOC. 2008 Annual Ministerial Review

The last month of July 2008, in New York, the International Juvenile Justice Observatory (IJJO) presented conclusions about the Regional Conference of Innovation in Latin America: "Youth: the core for Sustainable Development" (Costa Rica) during the Annual Ministerial Review (AMR).

United Nations Guidelines on Justice in matters involving child victims and witnesses of crime

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and UNICEF have elaborated the United Nations Guidelines on Justice in matters involving child victims and witnesses of crime.

The right to be heard, protected and also to be treated with dignity and respect during the justice process of child victims and witnesses of crime are some of the principles that were included in these United Nations Guidelines.

Presentations: Latin America Regional Innovation Fair "Youth: the core of sustainable development"

The International Juvenile Justice Observatory (IJJO) is pleased to invite you to read the presentations done during the Latin America Regional Innovation Fair "Youth: the core of sustainable development" on June 18th and 19th in San José (Costa Rica). This conference was organised by Fundación Diagrama and the UN-DESA-NGO Section of the United Nations ECOSOC, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture and Youth of Costa Rica and the participation of ILANUD and the International Juvenile Justice Observatory.

Bill to reauthorize and improve the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, and for other purposes. S 3155

In June 2008, the United States Senate reauthorized and improved the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 through the Senate Bill 3155.

The prevention and protection of the minor, family and community together with the reduction of racial discrimination in the field of juvenile justice are some of the principles and basis of this new legislative framework which were reconsidered by the United States National Senate.

IJJO Interview - Dr. Erika Varadi. University of Miskolc. Hungary.

Erika Varadi presents the situation and current youth justice system in Hungary. Mrs. Varadi Criminology Professor at the Sciences Institute Criminals, Criminal Law and Criminology Department of the Miskolc University in Hungary, analyses the evolution of the current youth delinquency prevention system in Hungary. Reintegration of youth who are in conflict with the law is one of the main objectives of the programs and instruments which are focused in youth crime prevention in such country.

The Republic of South Africa. Child Justice Bill

The International Juvenile Justice Observatory (IJJO) informs you about the re-conceptualisation of the juvenile justice bill by the South African Parliament.

This bill was originally introduced in 2002 and debated in 2003 but has not yet been approved. This text provides alternative measures for the protection of the rights of minors in conflict with the law as well as the implementation of socio-community measures to encourage the minor’s future positive integration.

'Justice for children. The situation for children in conflict with the law in Afghanistan'

The report 'Justice for children. The situation for children in conflict with the law in Afghanistan' was presented by the organisation ‘Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC)' in cooperation with UNICEF.

This document presents the results of the research that was done on minors in conflict with the law in 22 provinces of the country.This report reflects the need to put international and national legislation into practice in order to promote and protect the minor’s rights in Afghanistan.

IJJO Interview - Mr. Jochen Goerdeler. Director. German association for Juvenile Justice.Germany

Jochen Goerdeler, Director of the ‘German Association for Juvenile Justice and Judicial assistance for Minors’ from Germany, analyses the juvenile justice system in this country. Mr. Goerdeler explains that the development of a more tolerant social environment towards youngsters in trouble and of a general political environment which is more concentrated on social integration instead of punishment and mere security, are some of the essential improvements for the development of a future for juvenile justice in Germany.
