The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and UNICEF have elaborated the United Nations Guidelines on Justice in matters involving child victims and witnesses of crime.

The right to be heard, protected and also to be treated with dignity and respect during the justice process of child victims and witnesses of crime are some of the principles that were included in these United Nations Guidelines.

The International Juvenile Justice Observatory (IJJO) is pleased to invite you to read the presentations done during the Latin America Regional Innovation Fair "Youth: the core of sustainable development" on June 18th and 19th in San José (Costa Rica). In June 2008, the United States Senate reauthorized and improved the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 through the Senate Bill 3155.

The prevention and protection of the minor, family and community together with the reduction of racial discrimination in the field of juvenile justice are some of the principles and basis of this new legislative framework which were reconsidered by the United States National Senate.

Criminology Professor at the Sciences Institute Criminals, Criminal Law and Criminology Department of the Miskolc University in Hungary, analyses the evolution of the current youth delinquency prevention system in Hungary. Reintegration of youth who are in conflict with the law is one of the main objectives of the programs and instruments which are focused in youth crime prevention in such country.
